WHAT MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO DO IN THEIR COUNTRIES

Learn. Organise. Build. Lead.

FPI Youth Network members are expected to turn knowledge into practical activities that strengthen agriculture, enterprise and community development.

  1. Organise local youth groups: Bring together young farmers, students, entrepreneurs and technical professionals. Establish a coordinating team, hold meetings and keep activity records.

  2. Help establish Agricultural Business Clusters (ABCs): Identify interested producers, assess land and water resources, select suitable enterprises and develop plans for shared services, production, processing and markets. Submit proposed FPI-affiliated clusters for review.

  3. Start practical activities: Establish demonstration gardens, nurseries, school projects, backyard farms or agricultural service businesses. Begin with manageable projects and clear responsibilities.

  4. Promote skills and technology: Participate in training and apply useful tools for irrigation, farm records, research, traceability and business management. Share learning with others.

  5. Build local relationships: Engage educational institutions, extension services, businesses and community leaders to explore collaboration. Obtain authorisation before making commitments in FPI’s name.

  6. Support inclusive participation: Create meaningful opportunities for young women, rural youth and members with limited resources. Mentor others and develop future leaders.

  7. Maintain accountability: Keep accurate financial and project records, follow safe practices and communicate honestly. Membership does not automatically guarantee funding, employment or buyers.

  8. Report and improve: Submit brief monthly updates covering activities, results, challenges and next steps. Use Monitoring, Evaluation, Adjustment and Learning to improve performance.

Your first goal: Form a local team, identify one practical opportunity and begin a documented activity within your first 90 days.
