Gender Sovereignty in Agriculture
FPI is rewriting the landscape of African agribusiness through gender-responsive innovation.
OUR UNIQUE APPROACH · SDG 5, 1, 2, 8, 13, 17
The RUAIPP Promotion Strategy
Moving beyond production to bio-industrial participation for women. Aligned with UN Women and FAO priorities, our strategy treats women farmers as owners, leaders and decision-makers across the value chain — with safeguards, sex-disaggregated measurement and partner accountability built in.
01 — Capacity Building
Women’s leadership tracks, climate-smart and digital agriculture training, and technology access designed around women’s time, mobility and literacy needs — supporting safe, decent work (SDG 4, 5, 8, 13).
02 — Market Access
Pathways to finance, secure land rights and fair markets through women-led cooperatives, aggregation and buyer partnerships, so income and control stay with women producers (SDG 1, 2, 10).
03 — Direct Industrialization
Equity and management roles for women in processing and bio-industrial ventures, governed by safeguarding policies, sex-disaggregated KPIs and transparent partner reporting (SDG 5, 9, 17).

SDG ALIGNMENT & UN PRIORITIES
How gender equity drives the Global Goals
Our promotion strategy is built around UN gender-equality and agriculture priorities, so every programme supports women’s leadership, fair access to resources and results that are measured, reported and accountable.

05
SDG 5 · Gender Equality
Women’s leadership in cooperatives and decision-making, secure land rights, safe and decent work, and safeguards against harassment and exploitation. Our strategy turns these commitments into action through leadership pathways, finance and technology access, climate-smart training, market linkages, and measurable participation across the agricultural value chain.

02
SDG 2 · Zero Hunger
Closing the gender gap in productivity strengthens food security. We support climate-resilient practices and fair market participation for women producers.

$
UN Priority · Access to Finance
Credit, savings and input finance designed for women, backed by partnerships and tracked with sex-disaggregated data for accountability (SDG 1, 8, 17).

</>
UN Priority · Digital Training
Hands-on training in agri-technology, digital tools and market information, so women can adopt new methods and lead innovation (SDG 4, 9).
